SERENA
BURNETT PARALEGAL/OWNER OF THE
LEGAL EDGE
Serena
Burnett founded THE LEGAL EDGE
in 1991 and is its sole owner. Ms. Burnett
has been in the legal field since 1980. She began her
career as a legal secretary while attending college,
and subsequently earned her paralegal certificate from
ABA-approved UCLA Attorney Assistant Training Program.
She has also been an instructor in that program.
After
graduating from UCLA, she started out her paralegal
career preparing deposition summaries on the side while
working full time as a paralegal. She received so much
work, that she enlisted other paralegals to assist her.
The business blossomed and she was able to give up her
full time position and start working freelance, running
the deposition service on the side. All of the connections
she made throughout her 20+ years of experience in the
legal field proved fruitful. The business has grown
every year since its inception, and since 2000, has
also included staffing services.
Serena
Burnett brings unique international business experience
to THE LEGAL EDGE.
She has been a partner in DogStar Kennels since 1987.
DogStar specializes in raising two breeds of rare and
exotic dogs. She has negotiated deals, prepared all
contracts and settled disputes for the company. Much
of DogStar's clientele are based abroad which has afforded
Ms. Burnett much international travel and business dealings
in other countries. She has also shown dogs all over
the world and has won the World Championship titles
for 6 dogs in her showing career.
Ms.
Burnett has learned that in both breeding dogs and in
managing THE LEGAL EDGE,
it is quality, not quantity, which produces superior
results. This approach has earned her a stellar international
reputation in the dog business and defines THE
LEGAL EDGE as a company superior in its ability
to deliver quality staffing and services.
In
the summer of 2000, Serena Burnett purchased The Katherine
Braun Company, a deposition summarizing service which
has been in business since 1975. THE
LEGAL EDGE is also keeping up with technical
advances in the deposition summarizing business. In
early 2000 the company trained a team of paralegals
in a new program designed to interface with database
programs already being used by law firms. In this way,
THE LEGAL EDGE is
assuring that its deposition summarizing service will
not become obsolete. Ms.
Burnett's vision for the company is that it remain diverse
and offer several high quality services and staff to
its clients.
